A Norwegian band from the 2000s appeared in these parts last Wednesday. Today there is a Swedish one, Peter Bjorn and John. Pitchfork recently re-released the review of their 2006 album Writer’s block, which at the time surprised me with the variety of styles. The single Young folks it did well (finished second in the NME readership poll for piece of the year). But I especially liked it Objects of my affection, #canzonedelgiorno which, as Marc Hogan wrote on Pitchfork, “combines the dramatic style of an atypically optimistic Morrissey with nasal singing and blaring acoustic guitars that would have been good for Like a rolling stone if she went out later Loveless”.
