Emergency Notice Issued to Prevent Hidden Disaster Risks on Highways and Infrastructure Facilities During Flood Season
The Ministry of Emergency Management issued an emergency notice on the 3rd urging various regions and departments to take immediate action in investigating and addressing hidden disaster risks on highways and other infrastructure facilities during the flood season. This comes after the recent landslide disaster in the Chayang section of the Meizhou-Dalian Expressway in Meizhou City, Guangdong.
The notice emphasizes the need to prioritize the safety of people’s lives and property, and to take proactive measures to prevent similar disasters from occurring. Key areas such as highways, railway lines, and tourist attractions are to be thoroughly inspected for potential safety hazards.
Specific areas of focus include high slopes, sharp curves, tunnel walls, bridge foundations, and flood control facilities. Timely elimination of hazards and reinforcement of infrastructure will be carried out, with a strong emphasis on monitoring and early warning mechanisms.
