The “one thousand dirham increase” is historic and unprecedented

Youssef Idhi, an advisor for the Socialist Group – the Federal Opposition, criticized the outcomes of the social dialogue, saying: “The social agreement appears to be mercy, but its essence is torment; Because the social gain is measured by its reflection on the social life of the citizen, and the extent to which it meets his basic needs.

Yesterday, Tuesday, in a session for oral questions in the Council of Advisors, Idhi added that the rise in prices came after a wave of inflation that began to decline, while prices remained high, indicating that “the talk about issuing the regulatory law for the strike currently, we consider it to have come as a late reaction on the part of the government to remedy what has happened.” It was produced by the protests of women and men in education.”

The same speaker stated that the strike law does not only concern the most representative unions, but rather includes all social representatives, wondering at the same time, “All this, we do not know where the union law is? And how is the social dialogue that Moroccans, the majority of whom are young, betting on is signed by people who have reached the age of Atiya?”

The advisor for the Socialist Union-Federal Opposition team called for “the government to fulfill promises to continue sectoral dialogues, which had stopped in many other sectors,” pointing out that “the recent social agreement did not affect retirees.”

Historical increase

Younes Al-Sakuri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprise, Employment and Competencies, responded to the criticism, saying: “I do not blame the opposition for not being convinced by the outcomes of the social dialogue; Because it is big, important and historical. Also, some of the observations you made are appropriate: But there are answers that you may just not have seen.”

Al-Skouri added, “The agreement is understandable to Moroccans, because we are in a country with a conscious people who know everything. We must also be fair to the social parties who have done a good job, and we reached this agreement as a result of a civilizational struggle.”

The minister pointed out that “the agreement came through a joint will, despite the difficulties we have overcome.” We are committed to the issues addressed by the opposition, and the trade union law is at the heart of the social dialogue, and we agreed to activate the discussion about it after the strike law. Because we are originally addressing the defects of the previous one, as this law was supposed to be issued in the first term of the year 2011 in accordance with what was stipulated in the Constitution.”

Regarding the increase in prices compared to the increase of 1,000 dirhams, Al-Sukuri stressed that “there is a decrease in prices, and the current situation is not similar to the previous one, and the current increase is unprecedented, and we do not accept the opposition’s description (it appears to be mercy, but its essence is torment),” stressing “the importance of all of us being At the level of this positive moment, regardless of whether we are in the majority or the opposition, the increase is a positive need, and we wish there was a larger amount, but this is the government’s energy.”

The majority praises the dialogue

The majority advisors in the House of Councilors praised the outcomes of the social dialogue, which culminated in the signing of an agreement last April 29, which included an increase in public and private sector wages and a reduction in income tax.

Lahcen Al-Hasnawi, advisor to the Authenticity and Modernity Team, said during his comment on the intervention of the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprise, Employment and Competencies, today, Tuesday, that “the outcomes of the social dialogue raised the level of trust and partnership with social and economic actors, and the government was able to make social dialogue an independent institution.” “It is a space conducive to dialogue and cooperation, and the adoption of unprecedented results for the benefit of the public and private sectors.”

Al-Hasnawi stated that the outcomes of the social dialogue make the desired goals an inexhaustible reality, and show that the government sought to fulfill promises that were difficult to fulfill in the current economic circumstance, especially the increase in private sector wages by a value of one thousand dirhams.

For his part, Muhammad Al-Bakouri, advisor to the National Rally of Independents, appreciated the outcomes of the social dialogue, saying: “The government has been keen, from the beginning, to focus its work with the social and economic partners within the framework of institutionalizing social dialogue in order to activate the royal vision.”

Al-Bakouri pointed out that “social dialogue rounds contribute to achieving social peace, and restore confidence to employees and workers in union work,” indicating that “the outcome of social dialogue is very honorable, and has exceeded all expectations; Starting with the increase in the wages of education employees, passing through the health sector, and finally the general increase through the recent agreement.”

In the same context, Fatiha Khortal, advisor to the General Union of Workers in Morocco, considered that “the outcomes of the social agreement aim to strengthen the economic situation of Moroccan employees and their freedom of association.”

Khortal stated that “the latest round of social dialogue is an answer to the most important demands that come from a series of other social agreements, and the increase that took place in the public sector, amounting to 1,000 dirhams, is considered very important, and the increase in wages will be among the highest at the African level.”
