The Po shoal puts agriculture in crisis (Video)

In June 2022 the Po recorded the lowest water level in the last seventy years, according to the Po River District Basin Authority. This is mainly due to the lack of rain in Northern Italy during the last winter.

Agriculture is particularly affected. The drought, in fact, caused the phenomenon of the saline wedge: the sea water entered the river delta and the aquifers, making the water resources of the area unusable for cultivation.
