These are two countries of the so-called Visegrad bloc, the sovereign front of Eastern Europe, which the war in Ukraine has however split: on the one hand Poland and the Czech Republic, fiercely anti-Russian, and on the other Viktor Orban’s Hungary, who continues to have a relationship with Moscow and who recently met Matteo Salvini in Rome (Meloni avoided). This is certainly not an era of nuances, and so the head of the Polish government thanks the president of FdI, “for not having hesitated to draw a clear distinction between black and white. The Ecr group, Morawiecki- pointed out, has always been very critical against Putin, well before his aggression against Ukraine. “. In his speech, Morawiecki, claiming the centrality of nations within the EU, clearly hopes for a victory for the Brothers of Italy in the next elections: “Italy needs your success, and Europe is counting on you”. The Czech Prime Minister Fiala also underlines the position of FdI on the Ukrainian crisis: “I very much appreciate the firm positions of your party regarding the Russian attack. It is important that the democratic states act together and that they act firmly: this is the only one way to stop the Russian aggression “.
Central to this alliance is therefore the Conservative group in parliament, which Meloni and the Poles did not want to dissolve, effectively preventing the birth of a single sovereign formation, even with Orban, Salvini and Le Pen. The no of FdI was decisive and carried out by the head of delegation Raffaele Fitto who explained the project from the stage: “We will strengthen our cooperation with conservative governments in Europe, creating a real alternative to the proposals of the left”.
