A total of 25,789 citizens who processed their citizenship card and identity card at the different headquarters of the Registry in the department of Cesar, have not come forward to claim their document.

Of the total documents that are pending to be claimed, 7,840 are digital polycarbonate cards, 1,975 are yellow with holograms and 15,974 are identity cards.

To claim the citizenship card, the holder must personally visit the headquarters of the Registry where the procedure was carried out, until January 29, from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 pm am to 4:00 pm

It is worth noting that, starting January 31, business hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

For its part, the identity card can only be claimed by the holder, the father or mother of the minor or by the legal representative presenting their original citizenship card. The legal representative must also prove said quality. When the father or mother of the minor holder of the identity card is a foreigner, she must attach the minor’s civil registry and identify herself with a passport, immigration card or Special Permanence Permit (PEP).

It should be remembered that, in accordance with the provisions of the Sole Civil Registry and Identification Circular, citizens who process their citizenship card have a maximum period of one (1) year, counted from the date of its production, to claim it.

While identity cards can be claimed until their expiration date. If not, these will be returned to the central offices of the National Registry for destruction, taking into account the administrative and civil risks involved in the maintenance, custody and inventory of identity documents.
