YBY PYTÁ (special envoy) This is Richard Rodrigo Urbina Gómez, alias “Ka’i”, 31 years old, who died after receiving a head injury caused by a gunshot, presumably a pistol.
He was the son of Yby Pytá councilor Leoni Urbina of the Republican National Association (ANR).
The hitmen arrived on a motorcycle, one of them got off and shot him in the head. After committing the act, they fled the scene towards the Britez Cué neighborhood.
The attack occurred at 10:30 p.m. this Saturday in an amusement park, very close to the Yby Pytá Police Station.
After being injured, the victim was taken to the Asunción Trauma Hospital where his death was confirmed this Sunday morning.
An arrest warrant was issued for the alleged perpetrators, support was requested from police personnel from the Special Operations Group (GEO) and the Department of Investigation of Punishable Acts of the Ybyrapytã kilometer 35 neighborhood and the prosecutor on duty was notified.
Last January Urbina Gómez was investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office for an alleged armed attack on a man in a service center in Yby Pytá.
According to sources, the now deceased belonged to a new criminal group led by Silva Hú, which operates in the area considered “red”, due to the fight between drug traffickers for the territory for marijuana production.
He would have shot a police officer in 2017
In October 2017, Urbina Gomez would have wounded NCO Pedro Justino Gonzalez Peralta, 32, with a gunshot wound to the back. The fact happened in Yby Pytá.
On that occasion, González responded to a request for help aboard his private vehicle, since the patrol vehicle at the police headquarters was in another procedure.
The accident occurred after a gray truck collided with theirs.
Richard Rodrigo Urbina Gómez got out of the vehicle with a firearm, who had fired several shots at the non-commissioned officer.
Taking this background into account, it is not ruled out that the crime may be linked to the incident and that the intellectual author of the attack may have wanted to exact revenge.
