The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a statement on Lithuania’s approval of the Taiwan authorities to establish the so-called “Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania”
In spite of China’s strong opposition and repeated persuasion, the Lithuanian government approved the Taiwan authorities to establish the so-called “Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania.” This move created “one China, one Taiwan” in the world, blatantly violated the one-China principle, abandoned the Lifang’s political commitment in the communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, undermined China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and grossly interfered in China’s internal affairs, which was extremely bad in nature. The Chinese government has expressed strong protest and firm opposition, and will take all necessary measures to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Lifang is responsible for all consequences arising therefrom.
There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory, and the government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China. We ask Lifang to correct the wrong decision immediately. We are also telling the Taiwan authorities that they have miscalculated their calculations and are destined to be unable to escape failure.
