More scholarships for STEM girls and mobility support: these are the two measures that the Minister of University and Research, Maria Cristina Messa, recently indicated to support women in the fight against gender inequalities in education and work.

Necessary measures if we consider that in Italy, although women are over half of graduates (58.7% of the total in 2020), only 16 out of 100 have a degree in STEM disciplines, compared to 35 men (Istat, 2021): an important gap if we consider that the careers connected to scientific fields are those of the so-called “jobs of the future”, capable of influencing innovation, social well-being, inclusive growth and sustainable development.

It is therefore in the direction of supporting the presence of women in STEM degree courses that the 24 ORE Group has moved with its scholarship for girls enrolled in engineering at the Politecnico di Milano: included in the broader initiative of the Politecnico “Girls @ Polimi ”, the“ STEM 4 Women @ Gruppo 24 ORE ”call, which opened on 4 October last, ended with the assignment of the scholarship to Valeria Pantè, a student of Computer Engineering.

“I am infinitely grateful to the 24 ORE Group and the Politecnico di Milano for this wonderful initiative, which encourages inclusion in the STEM field and underlines its importance. In this field of study it is still difficult to have gender equality in terms of enrollments, despite the fact that there is no barrier to overcome this obstacle: men and women have the same skills and abilities. Inclusiveness and diversity are essential elements for having different points of view and finding more effective solutions. “

“The choice to offer this scholarship is the result of a commitment that we are carrying out with various initiatives, all focused on a single goal: that of supporting the values of diversity and inclusion, two assets that we consider strategic to create added value. for society. The decision to work alongside the Politecnico di Milano, a reality of excellence for its training offer, is one of the cornerstones ”underlines Federico Silvestri, CEO of 24 ORE Eventi of the 24 ORE Group.
