There could be a direct flight from Pereira to Cancun with Arca Travel

A few weeks ago the arrival of important foreign airlines to the country was announced, such as Fly Emirates, which will begin operations in June of this year. However, Pereira is not far behind with the opening of new routes and air offers, since it was announced that on March 21 the Pereira route to Bogotá with the airline JetSmart will be inaugurated, and later Pereira to Cartagena, as well itself, recovering the connection that had been lost with the Caribbean.

There will be three planes that will be available with two daily flights to the country’s capital and four flights a week to Cartagena. Carolina Ruiz, JetSmart sales manager for Colombia, highlighted the willingness of the Matecaña International Airport to continue working towards air connectivity: “There is a very important project at that airport that we are seeing how we can work on, but the airport has always “has been ready and attentive to give us all the support for our national operation.”

Likewise, for Holy Week, new international routes will be opened, with charter flights from Pereira to Havana and Punta Cana, in collaboration with the Mexican airline Arca Travel. Luis Collazos, manager of the airport terminal, emphasized the importance of these new options for travelers: “We have the inaugural flight on March 27, which departs from Wednesday to Sunday. In addition, this aviation company begins the Pereira to Punta Cana route in June, we hope that they will have Pereira to Havana with a return through Varadero and by the end of the year they are considering the possibility of having Pereira to Cancun.”

And he added: “The best year for Matecaña Airport was 2022, when we closed more or less with 2 million 800 thousand passengers. With the closure of the two companies, Viva and Ultra, last year we closed with 2 million 300 thousand. We hope to recover that difference with JetSmart and Arca Travel.”
