They approve 30 more days of the Exception Regime

In order to continue safeguarding the lives and property of honest Salvadorans, the deputies approved, with 67 votes, the sixteenth extension of the Exception Regime, a tool that has made it possible to combat criminal groups.

The President of the Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castro, stressed that the measure has been accepted by citizens, because it has been effective in recovering public spaces and has allowed them to move throughout the national territory without fear of being attacked.

“From the new Assembly we will continue to provide governance to President Nayib Bukele, supporting suitable and courageous measures. We will build what the politicians of the past were not capable of doing,” said Castro.

The official recalled that in previous governments thousands of murders were recorded, especially where the most vulnerable people lived: “Now, we are giving figures of zero homicides,” he said.

The parliamentarian also recognized the efforts of the Security Cabinet and the institutions that have been at the forefront of the fight against gangs.

For her part, parliamentarian Alexia Rivas indicated that “impunity is no longer the order of the day, with the Territorial Control Plan spaces and communities were recovered. At the same time, the municipalities that the gang members baptized as sanctuaries were destroyed.”
