MADRID – The husband of Ana María Knezevich Henao, who went missing in Madrid in February, has been arrested at Miami International Airport in the United States. David Knezevich was apprehended by FBI agents and the National Police upon his arrival from Belgrade, his home country.
The Spanish National Police disclosed that Knezevich has been detained for his suspected involvement in his wife’s disappearance. Ana María, a 40-year-old American woman of Colombian descent, disappeared on February 2 while in Madrid.
Authorities investigating the case, including FBI agents and police from Belgrade and Colombia, have been working diligently to unravel the mystery surrounding Ana María’s disappearance. The Court of Violence against Women number 9 in Madrid is overseeing the investigation, which remains under strict secrecy.
Ana María had traveled to Madrid in December to take a break from a challenging divorce process that had caused her emotional distress. Her last known activity involved searching for a new apartment in Madrid, with plans to stay in the city long-term.
Following concerning messages sent to friends on February 3, a report was filed for Ana María’s disappearance. The case has since garnered international attention, with authorities striving to uncover the truth behind her sudden vanishing.
