The Huila anti-kidnapping and extortion group managed to capture two men, nicknamed “Los Ortíz”, after a complaint of extortion related to the theft of a motorcycle in the town of Guacacallo, Pitalito.

The victim, affected by the theft of her motorcycle, was later threatened with the demand of more than two million pesos for the return of his vehicle. Alerted by the complaint, the GAULA uniformed men began a follow-up operation that led to the capture of the alleged extortionists.

The operation culminated in the arrest of one of the men while he received the requested money, while the second individual was apprehended in an attempt to flee aboard the previously stolen motorcycle.

Those captured, identified as responsible for the crimes of extortion and reception, were nicknamed “Los Ortíz.” After the capture legalization hearings, both were sent to a prison center with a custodial measure.

Colonel William Javier Lara Avendaño, Commander of the Huila Police Department, called on the community to report cases of extortion and theft. Likewise, he highlighted the commitment of specialized groups to carry out forceful actions against criminals and put them at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

The rapid response of the authorities allowed this criminal gang to be dismantled, sending a clear message of rejection of extortion and crime in the region.
