With 67 votes in favor, the Legislative Assembly approved the extension of the Exception Regime to continue guaranteeing security to Salvadorans, who for decades lived in anxiety.
The Exception Regime has provided the executive with the necessary tools to dismantle criminal organizations, thus contributing to the reduction of crime in the country.
Since the beginning of the regime, Salvadorans have experienced peace and freedom. The Government’s determined actions have made it possible to change the narrative of insecurity that affected the nation for so long. The extension of this regime reflects the commitment of the authorities to maintain and strengthen these achievements.
To date, more than 70,000 gang members have been captured and put behind bars, allowing the safety and tranquility of Salvadorans. In addition, El Salvador already has more than 510 days with zero homicides and has established itself as the safest country in Latin America.
The extension of the Exception Regime is a key step to consolidate advances in security and provide the Salvadoran population with the tranquility they long for.
