The volleyball in training gives the first big news to the sport of Risaralda at this beginning of the year where the protagonist is the Tigres Club after being crowned champion of the Festival of Festivals in the city of Medellín, exactly with the youngest female category, made up of girls from 10 years.

They met the goal

Jhon Edward Jaramillo Mondragón is one of the club’s coaches and expressed that this title was not a coincidence, since they had an important three-year work process with the 2013 category. “We were looking for the podium with them, last year we finished third and this year the work was to be champions and thank God it was given to us. It is the first time that this title in women’s volleyball has come to Risaralda and even more so in this category. We have always been second and third but we had never been able to achieve first place and this time we achieved the goal.”

Emotional definition

Regarding how the definition was experienced, the professor expresses: “we had to play in the final against a team from Cundinamarca, very organized, very good in defense, we won the first set with a very wide difference but the second set did get complicated but They gained confidence and the result was a 25-20 victory.”

Tigres has already accumulated its second title

“In the women’s branch it is the first time that we are champions and in this youngest category and the other time that we have been champions was in 2022 with the men’s branch. They have been the only two times that Risaralda has been first in this festival,” adds Jhon Jaramillo, regarding the traditional contest in Medellín, considered the most important in the country in training sports.

Quarters with 2011

“It was a very strong challenge because at the national level the 2011 category has suffered a lot due to the pandemic and it was like adding experience and for all the girls to know how to play and resolve themselves and the work that I had planned was to be among the best eight in the country and Thank God we got the results and we finished fourth.”

Rooms with the male

“In men it has been much more difficult because it is always very difficult to have all the places full. We did a very good job in December, we worked very hard to do a good job and we also managed to finish in the quarterfinals.”

Goals for 2024

“At the local level, the goal is always to be the best in the department. We have been there for eight years in which we have always stood out. At the national level, the idea is to continue going out to tournaments in which children, both the youngest and the oldest, develop at a sporting level.”

International in Itagui

“This year as our main objective we have an international tournament that they hold in Itagüí and the objective is to attend with the small and the largest categories. This year the team that was champion in Benjamin has already passed the mini volleyball category and the objective with them is to work very hard to see if we repeat the title again in Medellín.”

Great experience with Benjamin

“For me it is something very gratifying and more so that the youngest category plays alone, that is, they do not have a coach, so I was just another spectator like the parents in the stands and without being able to make the comment, without being able to give them instructions. game and it is one with an agitated heart and one wonders why they are crying if they are playing well or why they get nervous if they have all the conditions and it is something very good, that is, it is something that one has to learn a lot from their emotional control so that the girls are also calm,” added coach Jhon Edward Jaramillo Mondragón.
