The drama unfolded last weekend near Casa Grande, a city about 50 kilometers south of Phoenix. Bodhi Naaf was playing with other children when a strong gust of wind suddenly swept the air castle away and landed in another garden.
The 2-year-old son of firefighter Karl Naaf and his wife Cristy was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries that same day. A second child was also injured, the girl reportedly broke her arm. “We would like to express our condolences to the grieving family,” Pinal County police said in a statement, saying the incident was under investigation. Among other things, it is being checked whether the castle in the air was sufficiently anchored, reports news channel CNN.
Mama Cristy is currently pregnant, the birth is planned for the end of May. Sympathizers have already raised more than $170,000 via GoFundMe for Bodhi’s parents. “We want to support Karl and Cristy and ease their financial concerns so they can mourn their loss and prepare for a new chapter in their lives,” wrote initiator Ashley Al-Khouri, a family friend.
