The reforestation project, made possible by a funding of 261 thousand euros from the Ministry for Ecological Transition, concerns an area of ​​1.3 hectares in viale Nazioni Unite: there will be 1,670 forest plants and another 149 native trees, including maples, hornbeams , oaks, elms, poplars, willows and alders.

Construction time one month: there will be benches, lighting, even a circular square that will serve as a teaching room. To the primary school children of the area, through a contest, the task of giving the name to the urban forest. However, it was impossible to forget that a supermarket was to be built in the area.

“The land was owned by the Municipality and was part of an exchange with the private individual, we intervened before the exchange took place”, explains the mayor Mario Conte, “In other cases, see the future markets in the West Road area, there are instead rights acquired by private individuals “.

But the mayor still fears a small risk linked to commercial spaces: «1% of the area would be involved, but we are talking with the company that owns the rights. I feel I can exclude that shops will arise, there will be no problems ». The administration aims to close the mandate with six built urban forests: the next one, with possible start in October, will be built in via Selvatico.
