Another 8 young people are waiting for the molecular swab. Benazzi (Ulss2): “For now it doesn’t look like the Delta variant”
TREVISO. They have already become 75 unvaccinated youngsters from Treviso, between the ages of 17 and 20, quarantined by the Ulss 2 of the Marca after two private parties, held in recent days in Jesolo and Treviso. The cluster, therefore, expands, demonstrating that without the vaccine, contagion is very easy, especially among children. In short, the danger of the spread of the virus is just around the corner.
The cluster is expanding
The positivity so far confirmed by the molecular examination performed on young people are 16. Another 8 boys tested positive for the antigen and are awaiting the outcome of the molecular swab. All molecular positive samples are sent to the Zooprophylactic Institute for sequencing, with the aim of identifying the variant responsible for the Treviso outbreak. For now, however, it appears that this is not the infamous Delta variant.
«We will swab the children in isolation at the end of the quarantine» comments the general director of Ulss 2, Francesco Benazzi, «so in ten days. If it were Delta variant instead it is 14 days of isolation, ma at this time it does not appear to be this variant, at least from the first sequences that were performed. The others will arrive by tomorrow (today 12 July ed), when we have the complete picture ». This is good news, given that the so-called “English” variant is representing a considerable problem in many countries. The general manager, however, is gloomy talking about the increasing infections and above all the very young fulcrum of the spread of the virus.
«I’m worried, of course» he reiterates «the boys don’t get vaccinated, there is little adhesion. Those who are not vaccinated contract Covid, and it can be a source of continuous transmission ». Especially for the weakest categories and for as many teenagers.
Concern grows
He continues: «No one can be forced for this I’m looking for a witness who can talk to young people and invite them to get vaccinated, an influencer who can convince them“. Benazzi thinks of Bebe Vio rather than Federica Pellegrini. “If it were her it would be nice. A testimonial could be positive especially for 16, 17, 18 year olds ».
Did you expect a resumption of cases? “It was taken for granted given that we are faced with those situations of promiscuity in which the boys are together, attached, in a closed environment, such as parties and matches”.
Benazzi’s appeal, even more relevant today, it is always the same: “We must avoid being stuck with each other, the recommendation is the same: stay spaced, try not to hug each other without having done two doses, and above all get vaccinated ». In the hope that parents will convince their children to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
