Twin Boys Found Unresponsive in Car on I-95 Identified
Tragedy struck early Friday morning on I-95 in Miami-Dade when twin three-year-old boys were found unresponsive inside a vehicle. The boys, Milinddjy and Milender, were later identified as the children of Shirlene N. Alcime.
Police were called to the scene after 911 operators received a call about the unresponsive children. Another call came in shortly after reporting another child in the same condition. The calls came from a person traveling in another vehicle.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers saw a woman, later confirmed to be the driver of the vehicle with the children inside, jump off the ramp onto the Tri-rail train tracks. The woman was taken to Aventura hospital in critical condition.
The children were transported to an area hospital but were later pronounced dead. The cause of death has yet to be determined and will be determined by the medical examiner’s office, according to Miami-Dade Police Detective Angel Rodriguez.
The incident caused severe delays on I-95, with emergency personnel blocking the northbound on-ramp at Golden Glades with access to the Palmetto Freeway and Turnpike.
At this time, authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic event. The community is left mourning the loss of two young lives in this heartbreaking incident.
