Homes in danger due to landslides.
The intense rainfall that Espíndola has endured in recent days caused a landslide in the El Tingo neighborhood, on the way to Tundurama, in the city of Amaluza; putting two homes at risk.
The slope where the real estate sits began to crack and, during the night of Saturday, May 4, part of the land gave way, alarming the owners that at any moment their houses could collapse and be left on the street.
During the morning of Monday, May 6, personnel from the Fire Department of the Espíndola canton and local institutions went to the site, in order to verify the damage and establish contact with the owners of the property.
They presume that part of the land is sitting on a fill, a fact that, added to the rains of recent days, would have triggered the collapse.
However, the owners appeal to the local authorities and the National Risk Secretariat to carry out the corresponding evaluations and measures – urgently – in view of the fact that the rains continue, with the purpose of avoiding the collapse of the homes, as a result of the families’ hard work of years.
