Two mountaineers recovered after a night on Mont Blanc

by admin

Intervention at 4,000 meters by the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue made difficult by the strong wind at high altitude

The two foreign mountaineers that the Valle d’Aosta Alpine Rescue recovered today, in the early afternoon, on the Mont Blanc massif, at Col Émile Rey, are both in good health conditions.

The two, both Austrians, were stuck at 4,000 meters on Monday evening. Due to difficulties encountered in the descent phase, they asked for help but were hampered by the strong wind. Despite the attempts to approach, neither last night nor this morning the helicopter managed to get close. A ground crew then intervened and reached the two climbers and accompanied them to a lower altitude where the helicopter was able to intervene.

As a precaution, both were taken to the emergency room in Aosta.

Today the Valle d’Aosta Alpine Rescue was called to intervene on Mont Blanc again for a mountaineer who fell in a crevasse on Dent d’Hérins and for an injured mountaineer in the Punta Brendel area.
