According to Taiwan media reports, a U.S. Air Force military plane landed briefly at Taipei Songshan Airport on the morning of July 15.
The Ministry of National Defense of China responded on the 15th and stated that it warned the US to “do not play with fire” and “not to send the wrong signal to the’Taiwan independence separatist forces'” and warned the DPP authorities to “not misjudge the situation and lead wolves into the room.”
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not comment on this.
Administrative plane arrives in Taiwan
Taiwan’s Central News Agency quoted the Air Force’s statement that the ground handling operations of this aircraft were not the responsibility of the Taiwan Air Force’s Songshan Base, and the Taiwan Air Force had no contact with the aircraft.
Taiwan’s TVBS reported that the special plane arrived at Songshan Airport at 9:32 this morning. There were no passengers on board. The mission was to transport the items used by the Director of the American Association in Taiwan (AIT). It was originally planned to stay for 1 hour to 10 hours. At 30:30, after a short correction, he took off and left Taiwan at 10:06 24 minutes earlier.
Sandra Oudkirk, the new director of the American Association in Taiwan, arrived in Taiwan on July 12 and is currently in isolation. After the quarantine, she will succeed Li Yingjie (William Brent Christensen).
The Central News Agency said that Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the American Institute in Taiwan had no further comment on the incident.
According to the official website of the US Department of Defense, the main mission of the C-146A military aircraft is to provide the US Special Operations Command with flexible and responsive small teams and cargo operations to support the Theater Special Operations Command. The airlift mission is performed by the crew of the US Air Force Special Operations Command, flying to ready and semi-ready airports around the world.
“The landing itself has a certain meaning”
Wang Dingyu stated on Facebook that why the C-146A military plane flew to Taiwan, all possibilities are subject to the statements of the Taiwan and US governments.
However, he pointed out that the landing itself has a certain meaning, that is, “to highlight that the interaction between Taiwan and the United States does not allow you the Chinese Communist Party to make irresponsible remarks over there and draw some imaginary red lines.”
“Taiwan has the right to decide who its country will accept and who it will not accept, and the United States also has the right to decide its interaction with Taiwan. Just like this, these arrogant words of the Chinese Communist Party not only highlight their arrogant hegemony, but for us It has no other effect,” he said in a video uploaded on Facebook.
This is not the first time a US military plane has arrived in Taiwan in recent times. On June 6 this year, three U.S. senators arrived in Taiwan on a U.S. Air Force transport plane for a short visit. The visit was described as the highest profile of US military planes entering and exiting Taiwan since the severance of diplomatic relations between Taiwan and the United States.
China is “seriously concerned”
“No one should underestimate the Chinese people’s determination, determination, and strong ability to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the article said. “The Chinese People’s Liberation Army maintains a highly alert posture and will take all necessary measures to resolutely crush any’Taiwan independence’ conspiracy.”
Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China, said on the same day that he firmly opposed any form of military collusion between the United States and the United States, and urged the United States to abide by the three Sino-US joint communiqués on the Taiwan issue and stop provocation. The forces seeking’independence’ and rejecting reunification are leading the people of Taiwan to disaster, and their attempts are bound to fail.”
China’s “Global Times” quoted military analyst Fu Qianshao as saying that if US military planes trespass into China’s airspace, including Taiwan, depending on the degree of threat, China can take different measures such as drive away and fire warning. He also mentioned that if a foreign military aircraft with combat capability trespasses into China’s airspace to perform certain military missions, China has the right to shoot it down when the situation is serious.
