University of Mediterranean Studies – Articles – 5 April | First FORUM of the BIODIVERCITY Project – Grecanica Area

The next 5 April 2024 will take place first of the five FORUMS conceived and planned by the UrbanLab BiodiverCity Project born from a partnership between the LaStre laboratories of the PAU and MecAgri of the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria and Sector 10 of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria “Planning – Enhancement of the Territory – Special Laws”, as part of the activities of the Third University Mission. The Laboratory, included in the works of the PUI, was admitted to financing on the M5C2 line – Investment 2.2 – Integrated Plans.

The FORUMS are intended as a place for meeting, exchanging, sharing ideas, disseminating green culture and themes relating to the ecological transition. and will return the reflections gained from the exchange of experiences with the Mayors and professional technicians responsible for the planning offices in the context of urban regeneration in the metropolitan area. The themes of the Forum are interrelated: Green infrastructures for adaptation strategies to climate change in urban areas; Urban natural ecosystems, existing and planned, for the safety and well-being of communities; Spread of green culture and obligations required for municipalities by regional law no. 7/2024 “regulations regarding the enhancement of green areas and plant formations in urban areas”.

The first FORUM is dedicated to the territory of the Grecanica Area and will be held at the Access Point Auditorium of the Municipality of Roghudi.

The Scientific Manager of the Project is Prof. Concetta Fallanca, and the experimentation group is made up of Profs. Bruno Bernardi, Prof. of Mecc. of Green Areas; Giuseppe Bombino, Prof. of Agricultural Hydraulics and Forestry Management; Fabio Lombardi, Prof. Forest Management and Silviculture; Pasquale A. Marziliano, Prof. Forest Management and Silviculture Antonio Taccone, Prof. of Urban Planning and Rocco Zappia, Prof. Arboriculture and Tree Cultivation. Doctors, research fellows and doctoral students collaborate: Dr. For. Bruno Gianmarco Carrà, Dr. CBAA Chiara Corazziere, Archh. Valentina Monteleone, Maria Teresa Rizzo, Elvira Stagno

Mayors, representatives of professional associations, professionals, designers, managers of planning offices, school managers of secondary education institutions, WWF, Legambiente and cultural, environmental and voluntary associations of the area are invited to participate in the discussion. Grecanica area.

The other four Forums which will be held in the territories of the other homogeneous areas of the metropolitan city are already scheduled for 2024: Locride, 3 May; Gioia Tauro, 7 June; Aspromonte, 5 July and Reggio Calabria, 20 September.
