The Valledupar Council will restart the process to elect the municipal representative for the period 2024-2028, after at the end of February it revoked the previous merit contest due to allegations of corruption.
He Council will begin this new process with the invitation to universities to present their proposals to organize the merit contest. “This contest is resumed at the beginning of the week and the first step is to seek support from the higher level educational establishments; That is why the terms of invitation to the different universities will be published so that they can apply and, as contemplated by the law, we will have that support,” said Councilor Ricardo López Valera, president of the Valledupar Council, to the media.
Since last March 8, Luz Angela Moreno acts as person in charge of Valledupar. The auxiliary person Moreno was elected with 15 votes in a secret vote held in the Council.

This new merit contest would take between two and three months, while the knowledge test, claims, study of resumes, interviews and voting. But it could be extended further if, like the previous process, the participants present legal appeals.
