The Ministry of Transport reported that the number of cross-regional personnel movements in China on February 15 reached 315.38 million, marking a 2.7% increase compared to the previous month. This also represents a 2.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023 and a significant 21.8% increase compared to 2019.
Railway passenger volume accounted for 15.159 million, a 6.4% increase from the previous month and a 24.4% increase compared to 2023. Meanwhile, highway personnel movements totaled 296.54 million, reflecting a 2.6% increase from the previous month and a 0.8% increase from 2023. Waterway passenger volume experienced a month-on-month decrease of 11.7%, but saw a notable 79.5% increase compared to 2023. Civil aviation passenger volume also increased by 0.9% compared to the previous month and 37.5% compared to 2023.
The transportation department has implemented active measures to ensure safe, orderly, and comfortable travel for passengers during the Spring Festival holiday, as the peak of travel returns near. This includes extending operating hours, adding additional trains, and coordinating with car-hailing companies to establish a support fleet. The provision of additional ferry lines and the coordination of airport bus frequency to accommodate passenger volume have also been implemented.
In response to the new round of low-temperature rain, snow, and ice disaster prevention, Hubei Transportation is stationing personnel on congested road sections and increasing accident rescue and dispatch efforts. The goal is to ensure smooth flow during the Spring Festival return peak.
To alleviate concerns about low battery levels in electric vehicles, Jilin has deployed additional mobile charging vehicles in service areas on the main line of the Beijing-Harbin Expressway. This comes as the charging infrastructure in the area has achieved 100% coverage, with the coverage rate of fast charging facilities reaching 50%.
The Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission has also organized the pilot work of “Customized special line for returning to Shanghai during Spring Festival travel,” providing customized special lines from Hongqiao Long-distance Bus Station to 27 university campuses in 6 directions from February 16 to March 5.
