Voters consider both Joe Biden and Donald Trump mentally unfit for a second term as president

American voters are generally skeptical about whether US President Joe Biden is mentally fit for a second term, and most feel the same about his potential presidential election rival, Donald Trump. This is evident from a poll by Quinnipiac University (Connecticut).

64 percent of respondents said Biden was mentally unfit to run for another term. For Trump it was 51 percent.

The 81-year-old Biden’s mental fitness came into focus after special counsel Robert Hur described him as an “older man with poor memory” in his report this month. The president countered those claims and appears to be continuing his re-election campaign.

The 77-year-old Trump is now ahead of the current president in most opinion polls. The Quinnipiac national poll is an exception: Biden wins it by four percentage points over Trump, although two-thirds of voters say they think Biden is too old to serve another full term in the White House.

In the poll by The Economist/YouGov, which was also published on Wednesday, Biden is one percentage point behind Trump. Both Quinnipiac and YouGov are respected pollsters.
