The EU states can now pay their farmers crisis subsidies for six months longer than previously planned, as the EU Commission announced in Brussels. This means that state aid of a maximum of 280,000 euros is possible per agricultural business. The EU decided on the temporary crisis framework after the Russian attack on Ukraine two years ago. The financial aid is primarily intended to cover additional costs for energy and fertilizer incurred by farmers.
