The polar cyclone arrives and brings the snow almost to the plains. An April Fool? Who knows, it seems credible to us, the weather models are in agreement. The mathematical models predict snow as far as the gates of Rome, on the Florentine and Umbrian hills, abundant on the Apennines up to 300-500 meters. And the cold and the intensity of the rainfall could give some isolated flakes even in the plains in the center-north.
Antonio Sanò, director and founder of ilmeteo.it, confirms the arrival of the polar cyclone with the formation of a deep Genoa Low, a low pressure centered on the Ligurian Sea: this configuration will cause a significant drop in temperatures, thunderstorms, hail and as mentioned snowfall up to low hill altitudes; the worst phase should be between today and late tomorrow afternoon. From Sunday, in fact, slowly, the phenomena will become more isolated, the cold will remain until Tuesday with possible late frosts in the plains, dangerous for agriculture after the hot spring of the last 2 weeks. And if it really won’t be an April fool of weather supercomputers, let’s get ready for the return of winter for at least 4-5 days!

Friday 1. In the north: covered with rain, snow over 1000 meters, decreasing in the evening up to low hill altitudes. In the center: bad weather on Sardinia and the Tyrrhenians with snow in the mountains, altitude decreasing to 900 meters in the evening. In the south: widespread rains especially on Campania and Calabria.
Saturday 2. In the north: variable with snow at low hill altitudes, cold. In the center: bad weather on Sardinia and the Tyrrhenian Sea with snow up to 300 meters. In the south: bad weather in Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, snow at 6-700 meters.
Sunday 3. In the north: some rain in Liguria. Center: some showers scattered on the Adriatic sectors. In the south: rains on the Lower Tyrrhenian Sea then improvement.
Trend. The weather will continue to remain cold especially in the morning, the first projection for the new week indicates the gradual return of Spring from Tuesday.
