Dr. Robert Núñez, a pediatrician, developed a list of things that all parents should teach their children from an early age.
The list consists of 15 tips that are the following:
Warn your child to never sit on anyone’s lap, no matter the situation including uncles. Avoid getting dressed in front of her child once he or she is 2 years old. Never let your child go anywhere naked. Teach them love and self respect. Do not call any person or family friend uncles (learning to identify the relationship is important). Whenever your child is out playing with friends, be sure to find a way to find out what kind of game they are playing; especially in this time where sexual games are so common and explicit among children and adolescents. Never force your child to visit any adult they are uncomfortable with; and they should also watch out if their child becomes too fond of a particular adult. DO NOT force to greet with kisses and hugs. Once a child, who is very lively, suddenly becomes withdrawn, you must patiently have to look for the reason for her behavior. Educate them carefully about the correct values of sexuality. If he doesn’t, society is going to teach them the wrong values. It is always advisable to review what they see on television, on the Internet, or what they read, before giving them the freedom to do so. Do not keep secrets, it is important that they understand that they should not keep anything and that everything should be reported to their parents. Teach your 3-year-olds how to wash their private parts correctly; and warn them never to allow anyone to touch those areas. Do not allow anyone of any age or relationship to bathe your children. Put away any materials that endanger your child’s mental health (this includes music, movies, and even friends and family).
