Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China Receives Opinions and Suggestions from CPPCC Members on Urban Governance
On January 20th, Yin Li, the Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, met with members attending the second session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee to discuss the theme “building a livable and resilient smart city and continuing to improve the super city”. The joint meeting, chaired by Wei Xiaodong, Chairman of the Municipal CPPCC, was attended by committee members from various sectors, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan overseas Chinese work consultants.
Yin Li praised the speeches of the members, emphasizing the need to implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech to Beijing, and base governance on the principles of serving the whole country and facing the world.
The meeting discussed a wide range of topics, including the construction of international exchange centers, extreme weather prevention, and technology-enabled urban governance. Members emphasized the importance of promoting the transformation of serving the masses and the need to strengthen the application of urban physical examination and evaluation results.
Yin Li expressed his gratitude to all members and emphasized the need to focus on the overall situation of the party and the country’s work, with a strategic goal of building a world-class harmonious and livable city. He also emphasized the importance of using science and technology to improve the efficiency of urban governance, as well as the need to build an effective governance system based on the needs of the masses.
The Secretary also highlighted the need to coordinate high-quality development and high-level security to effectively improve the safe operation level of the capital city. He stressed the importance of integrating resilience requirements into all aspects of urban planning, construction, and governance.
As the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Political Consultative Conference approach, Yin Li urged CPPCC organizations and members to serve the overall work of the city with a more energetic and promising spirit.
The meeting was also attended by Liu Wei, deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, members of the Standing Committee, and Vice Mayor Gao Peng. CPPCC Vice Chairman Cui Shuqiang and Secretary-General Han Yu were also part of the discussions.
