Where there will be demonstrations against right-wing extremism in SH this weekend | > – News

As of: January 20, 2024 12:04 a.m

Many demonstrations against right-wing extremism are planned in Schleswig-Holstein this weekend. Today there will be demonstrations in Lübeck and Sylt, among others, and on Sunday in Flensburg and Henstedt-Ulzburg.

The nationwide protests against right-wing extremism and populism were triggered by revelations by the research network “Correctiv” about a secret meeting between AfD politicians and right-wing extremists and entrepreneurs. Thousands of people across Germany have already protested against plans to denaturalize people with a migration background – including in Schleswig-Holstein.

Last Sunday a large demonstration against the right and the AfD took place in Kiel. A large alliance had called for this. 500 participants were registered and, according to the police, around 7,000 people came. The demonstration lasted three hours through the city center. On Friday, around 5,000 people took part in a demonstration in Kiel.

Actions against the right at the weekend in Schleswig-Holstein

Rallies and demonstrations are also planned for the weekend in some cities across the country. The following list provides an overview of planned actions, but does not claim to be complete.

Jam: Today a cross-party demonstration is planned in Westerland on Sylt under the motto “Stand up against the right – together for tolerance and democracy”. The demo starts on the market square from 2:00 p.m.
Lübeck: A “vigil against the right” with around 500 people is also planned today at Rathausmarkt and Kohlmarkt. It should start at 3 p.m. A larger demo is planned for January 27th. More than a dozen organizations from Lübeck then call for a demonstration against the right. The occasion is the day of the liberation of Auschwitz. The demo is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Adenauerstrasse/Lindenplatz.
Flensburg: Under the motto “Together for democracy – show a stance together” the rally starts on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Südermarkt in Flensburg. Eight private individuals have registered for the demo – the initiators and supporters also include actors from the church and refugee aid. According to the Nordkirche, speeches and an “open mic” are planned.
Pinneberg: On Sunday at 3 p.m. a rally will start in Pinneberg on Drosteiplatz/Children’s Rights Square under the motto “For solidarity and cohesion”. Fridays For Future Pinneberg and the Antifa Café Pinneberg in exile have called for this.
Henstedt-Ulzburg: The Henstedt-Ulzburg Alliance for Democracy and Diversity has registered a demonstration against right-wing extremism for 3 p.m. on Sunday – under the motto: “Together against right-wing extremism – demonstration for democracy and diversity”. According to the local administration, it starts in front of the town hall in Henstedt-Ulzburg (Segeberg district). The demonstration then leads over Hamburger Strasse, Beckersbergstrasse, Jahnstrasse, Gartenstrasse back over Hamburger Strasse to the junction at the railway arch for an interim rally. At the end, the demonstrators should go back to the town hall square. The Henstedt-Ulzburg municipal administration warns of traffic restrictions in the Ulzburg district. The demonstration is scheduled to end at 6 p.m.
