The Attorney General’s Office announced the formal indictment against former senator and former presidential candidate Rodolfo Hernández, along with his wife Socorro Oliveros, for apparently receiving money during the last electoral contest by people criminally prosecuted.
As such, the crime investigated is called “financing of electoral campaigns”, and would have taken place when Hernández contested the first round in the 2022 presidential elections and turned, from his personal account, nearly 127 million pesos to his electoral campaign, knowing that he was prevented from doing so due to criminal proceedings against him.
In the case of Socorro Oliveros, Hernández’s spouse and who served as campaign manager, the responsibility lies in the fact that she was aware of said prohibition and still allowed the contributions to enter.
