As Spring Festival Travel Hits Peak, Chinese Authorities Work to Ensure Safe and Smooth Return for Travelers
With the Spring Festival holiday coming to an end, Chinese authorities and transportation departments are working diligently to ensure the safety and comfort of return travelers during the travel peak.
According to the Ministry of Transport, it is expected that 14:00 to 18:00 will be the time when travel is concentrated and congestion is prone to occur, with the peak number of highways reaching 65.2 million vehicles. However, this is also expected to cause inconvenience due to cold wave and rain and snow in central and eastern regions.
To address this issue, the Ministry of Transport and local transportation departments have taken active measures to ensure road network dispatch and transportation organization, safety emergency response, and clearing congestion to ensure the safe, orderly, and comfortable travel of passengers.
In Shanghai, the Municipal Transportation Commission has organized a “Customized special line for returning to Shanghai during the Spring Festival travel season” to enhance the travel experience of non-local teachers and students returning to the city. This service will provide transportation from Hongqiao Long-distance Bus Station to 27 university campuses in 6 directions.
Likewise, the human resources and social security department of Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, has focused on the employment needs of key employment groups and enterprises to ensure the safe and comfortable travel of migrant workers. The department has organized special buses to carry out “point-to-point” direct transportation services to help stabilize jobs and resume work for enterprises.
Railway departments across the country have also been increasing transportation capacity and opening additional passenger trains on popular line sections to accommodate the increasing passenger flow. At Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport, a dedicated team, “Xiaohong Helps You,” has been deployed to provide refined services to returning passengers, ensuring travel convenience and a comfortable return experience.
Furthermore, in Qiongzhou Strait, the maritime department has coordinated and promoted the emergency use of berths in Xiuying Port to increase the number of sailings and improve ship turnover efficiency to meet the transportation capacity needs.
The efforts of various authorities and transportation departments are directed towards ensuring the safe and smooth return of travelers as the Spring Festival travel peak hits its peak.
