A few days ago the construction of a new Valledupar Palace of Justice began, which will be located in an area of ​​4,525 square meters, the property where the old building currently operates and which is intended as an uncovered parking area.

This modern infrastructure has a value of $51,510,269, whose contract was awarded through a public bidding process with a 35-month execution period.

This project is financed through the General Budget Law of the Nation in force in 2022. After the process of obtaining resources, the Government of Cesar in force in 2018, hired and provided the resources for the consultancy, which was in the hands of Jorge Arregocés, with an investment of $900 million, which took a period of six months to deliver.

“We did the consultancy and the Judicial Branch will be in charge of the budget for this second stage for the Palace of Justice. The investment will be around $64,000 million and we expect it to be hired promptly. This will decongest the judicial offices of Valledupar and some municipalities, the intention is that most of the leases, which are about 14 premises, are unified in this new building, “ex-governor Francisco Ovalle said at the time.

In accordance with the specifications published on the Secop II platform, the Judicial Branch is complying with a guideline in order to provide all guarantees of security, permanence, and well-being for officials, employees, and users.

“This new block will house the different corporations, such as the Valledupar Superior Court, the Cesar Contentious Administrative Court, the Judicial Council and the Sectional Commission for Judicial Discipline, which are scattered in different buildings in the city, this will allow bring these Corporations together by offering users correct access to justice and optimal service provision, decent for officials, employees and residents of the city of Valledupar and municipalities of the department”, the document reads.

The building will have 12 floors, 65 parking spaces, 2 basements, 1 semi-basement, a vehicle control booth, courtrooms, and 26 offices.

As relevant data, this building will have 165 solar panels to reduce operating costs.
