SANTA GUISTINA. State road 50 reopens tonight (Friday 23 April) at midnight. So in fact, tomorrow morning the artery in Destra Piave will be regularly accessible, among other things two days earlier than the original time indication set for Sunday evening.
The speed of the Cadore Asfalti company in the construction of the cycle underpass at Gravazze, in addition to the clemency of the weather, has therefore made it possible to limit the inconvenience due to closure to just one week. Interrupting the circulation and diverting it along the alternative road network was necessarily necessary, as the connecting tunnel that will be used by the users of the cycle route had to be built.
We are talking about the connecting passage between the section that currently stops shortly after the Bribano bridge and the new Sant’Agiustinese one, inserted in the Valbelluna ridge and thanks to which by the end of September it will be possible to reach the hamlet of Salmenega, then entering the future section of Cesiomaggiore . However, the new underpass will not be usable soon, as a series of works, including asphalting, must be carried out inside. It was a priority, however, to free the state road and from tonight the goal can be said to be completed.
The work
To illustrate the details of the construction site is the construction manager, the engineer Marco Fant, present at the press conference together with the foreman Luigi Schena, the engineer Lucia Taufer and the councilor Ennio Vigne. “The tunnel created by opening a gap in the wall under the highway measures about twenty meters and has a net section of 3.50 meters by 3 meters”, comments Fant. “The company built it on site, using prefabricated elements sized for a first category road such as state highway 50. The workers prepared it by digging up to the level of the foundations and then recomposing the road body according to the indications received from Anas . Now we are in the testing phase, thanks to which we will carry out the last checks on the quality of the repairs, and then we will proceed with the resurfacing and the reopening of the road. In the coming weeks we will work on the actual construction of the tunnel. A praise to the company for the way it organized itself, also working on Saturdays, Sundays and several nights. The time schedule was in fact very limited and we wanted to make the roadway available as soon as possible ».
Maximum attention
Some doubts are raised by the users of the Fant’s road regarding the safety of cyclists, once they have exited the tunnel towards Santa Giustina. This is because in the vicinity of the existing railway underpass and the new one there are two curves with poor visibility. Consequently, careful signs for cyclists and vehicles will be prepared in collaboration with Fiab (Friends of the bicycle of Belluno), in order to minimize the risk of an accident.
The road is mostly frequented by agricultural vehicles, but in any case it will be necessary to be particularly cautious in tackling the stretch in question. –
