Xi Jinping Emphasizes Importance of Continuing Anti-Corruption Efforts in CCP Speech
On January 8th, Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of the State, delivered an important speech during the third plenary session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China. During the speech, Jinping emphasized the need to continue the fight against corruption, despite a decade of relentless efforts that have already produced substantial victories.
Jinping acknowledged that while the anti-corruption struggle has achieved significant success in recent years, it continues to be an intricate and challenging battle. He stressed the importance of understanding the new situations and trends in the fight against corruption, as well as the underlying conditions that give rise to corrupt practices.
Prominent officials in attendance at the meeting included standing committee members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, along with members of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. The meeting was held in a video and telephone conference format, with branch venues set up across China.
Jinping outlined several key initiatives to strengthen the party’s self-revolution and further advance the anti-corruption campaign. He stated the importance of promoting political supervision as a concrete, precise, and normalized process, as well as addressing prominent issues related to formalism and bureaucracy. Jinping also stressed the need to eliminate corrupt behavior among party members and cadre, and to strengthen the management and supervision of party members.
The President also highlighted the necessity of increasing punishment for bribery, deepening the institutional reforms to prevent the spread of corruption, and improving anti-corruption laws and regulations.
The speech concluded with Jinping calling for the construction of a culture of integrity in the new era, promoting anti-corruption education within the party, and cleaning up unhealthy practices in selection and employment of personnel. Jinping also emphasized the role of the country’s disciplinary inspection and supervision agencies in promoting the party’s self-revolution and underlined the importance of building a trustworthy team to carry out anti-corruption efforts.
Li Xi, who presided over the meeting, lauded Jinping’s speech as providing a fundamental guideline for the party’s efforts to clean up its ranks and combat corruption. Li Xi emphasized the need for party members to study and implement the principles outlined in the speech fully.
