Diksmuide/Zarren –

A student from the seventh specialization year of the school ‘t Saam campus Cardijn in Diksmuide fell through a window on Thursday evening during an eight-day study trip in Turkey. According to initial reports, the boy did not suffer any fractures.

The students of the seventh specialization year have been in Alanya, Turkey, since Thursday for an eight-day study trip. Things went wrong on the first evening for one of the students, a young man from Zarren (Kortemark).

“Together with campus director Bart Laleman, about fifty students have arrived at their hotel in Alanya since Thursday,” said technical director Tommy Es. “However, a student fell through a window on Thursday evening for an unclear reason. I don’t know the circumstances for the time being, because it is very difficult to reach people. Contact is only via WhatsApp, as the connection is very poor. In any case, there is a teacher present with the boy in the hospital.”

The boy is said to have suffered no fractures in the incident. “It would rather be about some flesh wounds. Presumably it would be limited to 24 hours in the hospital, but I cannot confirm that yet. It is the first time that we have experienced something like this, fortunately. The other students can continue their journey.”
