Zhongshan Celebrates International Nurses Day with Conference Highlighting Growth in Nursing Team
On May 11, Zhongshan held the 2024 5.12 International Nurses Day and the city’s nursing work conference, bringing together over 200 representatives of nursing workers from various medical and health institutions at all levels in the city.
During the meeting, it was reported that the city’s nursing team has seen steady growth over the past year. With a total of 17,928 registered nurses in Zhongshan, including those with intermediate and senior professional titles accounting for 26.67% and nurses with a college degree or above making up 76.32%, the number and structure of nurses have increased compared to the previous year. Additionally, Zhongshan has invested in the cultivation of nursing talents by establishing national-level, provincial-level, and municipal-level specialist nurse training bases, training thousands of individuals.
The nursing service capabilities in Zhongshan have also improved, with the opening of 88 nursing specialist clinics and the implementation of overall nursing services in all wards of second-level and above medical institutions. The integration of “Internet + nursing services” has served 15,000 patients so far, showcasing the city’s commitment to expanding and enhancing nursing services.
Xu Shuguang, a head nurse with 30 years of experience, shared her journey in the nursing profession, stressing the importance of dedication and selfless service. She encouraged young nurses to uphold the same values and passion for the career.
Liang Weihua, Party Secretary and Director of the Municipal Health Bureau, emphasized the need for continuous training and improvement of working conditions for nurses. The goal is to ensure that nurses have the resources and support to provide the best possible care to patients.
The conference also included a capping ceremony for new nurse representatives and a commendation for nurses who have dedicated 30 years to the profession. Representatives shared their experiences in nursing homogenization management, “Internet + nursing services” development, and enhancing primary care services.
As Zhongshan celebrates International Nurses Day, the city continues to show its dedication to supporting and growing its nursing team, ensuring quality care for all residents.
