Third division football team FC Ingolstadt 04 says goodbye to its fans with a confident home win against relegated VfB Lübeck. For Sabrina Wittmann these are the first three points as head coach for the men.
For both teams there was nothing left on the penultimate matchday of the season. VfB Lübeck had already been relegated to the regional league. The Schanzer wanted to at least make up one or two places in the table and say goodbye to their followers properly. That succeeded. In the 6:1 (3:1) Moritz Seiffert (17th), Sebastian Grønning (24th/65th), Pascal Testroet (34th), Ognjen Drakulic (86th) and Benjamin Kanuric (90th) scored for the Schanzer , whose coach Sabrina Wittmann remained undefeated in her second game in charge of the sport.
Neglected defense
In a very eventful encounter, both teams tried to assert their offensive game while at the same time not always being completely solid on defense. Larger rooms kept opening up, especially for the Lübeck team, which the FCI used. Seiffert (17th) opened the scoring, and shortly afterwards Grønning made it 2-0 with a nice shot.
The guests also continued to struggle and were rewarded in the 31st minute: Aaron Herzog scored the next goal with a dream goal. But the FCI restored the old gap through Testroet just three minutes later.
After the substitution, it was Grønning again who made it 4-1 with a goal and thus the preliminary decision in this game. Lübeck still had a great chance. Shortly before the end, when Wittmann had exhausted the full substitution quota, the FCI scored again through Ognjen Drakulic, who had just been substituted, and Benjamin Kanuric (90th) to make the final score 6-1.
