The front of the roof over the center court of Roland-Garros is decorated with the saying “Victory belongs to the most persevering”, which is attributed to Napoleon. The saying is also said to have adorned the propellers of the aircraft of the French aviation pioneer Roland Garros, which gives its name to the most important clay court tennis tournament.
