Ambitious universe, Ele Penna is the new hit

Crusher class 2003, joins Galleon and Breviary. Coach Fontana: “Her determination is what we were looking for”

The Universe In Volley Pavia, newly promoted to women’s B2 series, raises the bar even further, at least judging from both the previous interesting additions and the important confirmations. Now the highlight – already made official – is the arrival of Eleonora Penna, 1.81 hitter, born in 2003 from Omag San Giovanni Marignano, A2 team. Penna grew up in the youth teams of Team 80 in Gabicce with coach Enrico Stefanini and here she immediately distinguished herself, right from the youth, showing off her talents. In 2018, Penna was then hired by the Conero Planet Volley Team in the B1 series and, two years later, she moved to Omag San Giovanni Marignano in the A2 series. Here she, trained first by Stefano Saja and then by Enrico Barbolini, she had her great opportunity to grow further on a technical level, that is a two-year experience in A2 and moreover in her city.

The opportunity to grow

“Volleyball is the sport that made me grow in many aspects of character and I think this is a good reason to continue to give my best – explains the new Universo Pavia player – I am a gritty girl and with a great desire to continue growing , I’m sure I have the opportunity to do it this year. I expect to be able to give my best in every situation and to help the team achieve all the objectives set. I accepted Universe’s proposal because it immediately seemed very valid to me. The club has high ambitions and a well-built project. After two championships spent playing at my home, now I feel really ready for an experience in another context ».

Great satisfaction is expressed by the management staff from Pavia: «We were looking for a particular figure, as we wanted a young woman with a hunger for victories – comments coach Mauro Fontana – With Penna we believe we have identified the desired profile. She is a young, very determined athlete. She struck us because she is a player who, although very young, is very tidy in the fundamentals in the second line. She has already shown that she has great technical means because she, from her more experienced companions, has had the opportunity to learn a lot, proving to be growing and with a great margin for improvement also from the physical aspect. We are convinced – concludes the coach from Pavia – that you will be able to give the team all that precious quality to better face our experience in this new category for us ».

Penna joins the squad of Universo, together with the confirmations of the captain and director Barbara Pagnin, of the central Aurora Bellinzona and Bianca Ianosel, of the free Marianna Filippi Pioppi, of the opposite Letizia Moro; the staff is now completed by the arrivals of the setter Carlotta Galeone and the central Martina Breviario. And the incoming market, for coach Fontana and for team manager Davide Razzano, certainly did not end here. –
