Numerous athletes from Cuneo are competing for the final individual Italian cross-country championships today in Trieste on the meadows of the Prosecco airfield and the Ervatti di Sgonico field where the relay races took place yesterday. At 10.30 the women’s 8 km Absolute race will start (2 km circuit to be repeated 4 times) in which Anna Arnaudo from Borgo San Dalmazzo (Battaglio Cus Torino) will try to overtake the favorite Nadia Battocletti. Also in the race Lorenza Beccaria, Valentina Gemetto, Arianna Dentis, Mina El Kannoussi and Addisalem Belay Tegegn of Atletica Saluzzo, reigning Italian champion; Francesca Ghelfi will be there for the Valle Varaita runway. In the Juniores category to follow Adele Roatta of Athletics Mondovì-Acqua S.Bernardo) and Matilde Bagnus (Valle Varaita). Among the students, Elena Abellonio of Athletics Alba will be the protagonist, returning from the silver medal on 1500 at the Tricolor in indoor athletics. In the men’s absolute (10 km, starting at 11.20) the Granda will have Manuel Solavaggione (Podistica Valle Varaita), Marco Moletto (Atletica Saluzzo) and Mattia Galliano (Atletica Roata Chiusani). Elia Mattio (Valle Varaita) aims for the individual podium Juniores and teams together with Simone Giolitti and Nicolò Beitone, while the students from Cuneo will be Francesco Mazza (Saluzzo) and Tommaso Mattio (Valle Varaita). Present, among others, the Dragonero with the vice president Daniele Crosio. The Trieste Cross Festival is the preview of the 2022 European Championships on 11 December at the Parco della Mandria in Venaria.
