Just 48 hours after the world record of 10,000 women set by the Dutch Sifan Hassan, Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey has again improved the limit, bringing it very close to the 29-minute barrier: 29’01”03. Already holder of the world record on 5000, Gidey completed the feat on the Dutch track of Hengelo, where the Ethiopian Olympic qualifications are held and it is the same where Hassan had raced the day before yesterday in 29’06”82.
In the last ten months all world records on 5000 and 10.000 meters have been broken, also thanks to the use of technology, with the new shoes and the ‘hares’ of light on the track.
