JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA
The decision came only yesterday evening, after a summit with the Superbike riders: this morning, on the Spanish circuit of Jerez de la Frontera, we will be back to racing: at 11 race-1, at 14 race-2. On the track, also the Serenese Axel Bassani. We will return to racing in the aftermath of a dramatic day, yesterday, marred by an accident on the track that cost the life of fifteen-year-old Spanish driver Dean Berta Vinales.
Vinales, cousin of the more famous Maverick of MotoGP, was involved in race-1 of the SuperSport 300 category when he was the victim of a fatal accident. The tragedy had canceled the tests of each category scheduled for yesterday (including the Superbike of the Belluno-based Bassani). Today, however, the three categories will return to racing, albeit with a reshaped program that includes, in addition to the two Superbike races, also Supersport race-2 (at 12.30) and Supersport 300 race-2 (at 15.15). –
