Rome, October 17, 2021 – Ballot boxes open at 7 this morning. In fact, about five million voters are once again called to the vote, today and tomorrow, for the second round of administrative elections. After the results of 3 and 4 October, when the first round was held, the future of 65 Municipalities of Italy, where the voters will have to choose the mayors of their cities in the challenge to two gods ballots. Voting takes place in ten capitals including Roma, Torino e Trieste.

As we said, they are 65 in total the municipalities where voting takes place in these two days, distributed in 15 regions with ordinary statute, in addition to Friuli Venezia Giulia. Apart from Rome, Turin and Trieste, the other seven capitals involved in this electoral appointment are Varese, Savona, Latina, Benevento, Caserta, Isernia e Cosenza.
How to vote and how it works. The rules
In the first round the 5 Star Movement he lost the three mayors in the provincial capitals where he won in 2016: Rome, Turin and Carbonia. The center left, in its various articulations, snatched from M5s Carbonia, with Pietro Morittu, and confirmed the municipalities of Milan (Beppe Sala), Rimini (Jamil Sadegholvaad), Salerno (Vincenzo Napoli), Naples (Gaetano Manfredi), Bologna (Matteo Lepore ) and Ravenna (Michele De Pascale). In these last three municipalities the center-left and M5s ran as allies. The center rightinstead, it has so far confirmed the mayors of Pordenone (Alessandro Ciriani), Novara (Alessandro Canelli) and Grosseto (Antonfrancesco Vivarelli).
A Roma no candidate obtained an absolute majority in the first round of 3 and 4 October. In the capital, therefore, now the center-right candidate will compete Enrico Michetti and the candidate of the center left Roberto Gualtieri. In the first round Michetti obtained 30.14% of the preferences against 27.03% of Gualtieri.
A Torino, after a five-year tenure of Chiara Hangers of the 5-star Movement, to challenge each other for the position of mayor are Stefano Lo Russo of the Democratic Party, the candidate leading the center-left coalition, e Paolo Damilano, the civic took the field for the center-right. In the first round Lo Russo recorded an advantage with 43.86%, beating Damilano, who collected 38.9% of the preferences, by almost 5 points. But the game is still considered to be open.
Same thing a Trieste: on the one hand Roberto Dipiazza, center-right, in the fourth term if he wins. On the other, Francesco Russo, center-left, regional councilor but projected to conquer the highest seat in Piazza Unità. Dipiazza in the first round stopped at 46.92%, while hoping not to go to the ballot. Russo is at a distance of 15 points, precisely at 31.65%.
Any voter will be able to go to the polls Sunday, from 7 to 23, and then also Monday, from 7 am to 3 pm. Once the voting is over, the counting will proceed immediately.
