Happy Casa Brindisi-Carpegna Pesaro Ham (Ciamillo-Castoria)

Brindisi, 26 December 2021 – There was a victory under the Christmas tree of the Carpegna Ham Pesaror. In the only Sunday match of this one thirteenth round of the Serie A championship of basket – decimated by the many postponements of races due to Covid-19 – the formation from the Marches in fact managed to break the PalaPentassuglia 91-89 of Brindisi at the end of a match full of emotions especially in the final. Decisive for the “Vuelle”, capable of repelling the Salento comebacks twice, the capital tests of Tyrique Jones – towering in the final with his 14 points and 10 rebounds – and of Doron Lamb (20 points) e Tyler Larson (18 points). Nothing to do, therefore, for the Happy Casa which, despite the generous attempts to climb also from the double digit disadvantage and the uppercase performances of Nick Perkins (27 points) e Lucio Redivo (23 points), she failed to place the sensational winning paw with the Argentine first and then with Kosh Perkins. To weigh on the white-blue back also the many errors in the line where an overall and insufficient 16/29 arrived.

The race

With the triples of Redivo Brindisi (for him already 10 points at the sound of the first siren) he tried to give the shock already a first quarter closed ahead by the Salento 27-25. Pesaro, however, managed, thanks also to a particularly inspired Larson, to keep in the wake of the biancoblu and exploit their offensive blackout in the second quarter, putting the turbo up to +9 (30-39). The vehement reaction of the hosts who, with a 13-0 fueled by the verve of the usual Redivo, they managed to get back into the locker room ahead 43-41. The roles, however, were reversed again after the long break, because Pesaro began to bite in defense and continuously find the way to the basket, raising the bar of the maximum advantage of the evening up to +10 (50-60). A deficit that did not, however, bring down the Happy Casa, capable of initiating a slow but inexorable comeback that culminated in +3 signed by Udom at 1’45 “from the end. A gap immediately bridged by Zanotti’s bomb that restored confidence to Pesaro, who then managed to put the arrow with four points and a very heavy stolen ball from Jones (84-88). A deficit that the Marches, however, risked compromising by undergoing the -2 basket from Chappell and immediately giving the ball to Redivo who from 6.75 meters did not convert the brindisin counter-passor. Josh Perkins’ bombshell and Moretti’s error in the line still left an opening for Brindisi who, with Perkins himself, missed the sidereal distance basket of victory by a whisker.
