Bitter end for world champion Evenepoel

For world champion Remco Evenepoel, the Giro d’Italia came to an abrupt and bitter end on Sunday. After a positive coronavirus test, his Quick-Step racing team decided to take the Belgian out of the race to be on the safe side. “You never know what’s going on under the skin. No risk,” tweeted team boss Patrick Lefevere. The Belgian had previously won the second individual time trial and slipped into the pink jersey.
