Match between Cruz Azul and Chivas Moved to Azteca Stadium for Economic Reasons

In a surprising turn of events, the upcoming match between Cruz Azul and Chivas for Matchday 10 of Clausura 2024 has been moved to the Azteca Stadium. The game, originally scheduled to take place at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium, will now kick off on Saturday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m.

The decision to change venues was officially announced this Sunday, citing the presence of a concert by Alejandro Fernández at the Plaza de Toros México as the primary reason. However, Televisa analyst David Faitelson quickly dismissed this explanation, pointing out that the concert had been planned well in advance.

Faitelson suggested that the real motive behind the venue change was the potential for greater economic gains at the Azteca Stadium. With Chicharito Hernandez, who recently returned from injury, expected to play for Chivas, Cruz Azul stands to benefit from increased ticket sales due to the striker’s popularity.

The Azteca Stadium, with a capacity of 83,000 spectators, offers a significantly larger seating capacity compared to the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium, which can accommodate only 36,000 fans. The allure of a high-profile matchup between Cruz Azul and Chivas, combined with the presence of Chicharito, is expected to draw a large crowd to the iconic venue in Mexico City.

Fans of both teams can look forward to an exciting match-up at the Azteca Stadium next Saturday, as the two Liga MX powerhouses battle it out on the pitch.
