Cruz Azul solidified their position at the top of the Liga MX standings after a victory over León. The team, led by Martín Anselmi, secured their fifth consecutive win in the Clausura 2024, maintaining their lead in the tournament.
With the win, Cruz Azul now has a total of 16 points, one more than their closest competitors, Monterrey, Tigres, and Pumas. Their latest victory came on February 21, when they visited León’s Nou Camp Stadium and secured a valuable win with goals from Charly Rodríguez, Rodrigo Huescas, and Uriel Antuna.
While Cruz Azul remains the clear frontrunner, the competition for the top spot is becoming increasingly tight, with five teams hot on their heels. Pachuca, Pumas, Monterrey, America, and Tigres are all vying for the top position in the standings, posing a threat to Cruz Azul’s lead.
With only Pachuca and America having played their matches, and Monterrey and Tigres scheduled to face off next week, Cruz Azul’s position as the league leaders hangs in the balance. Despite their strong start to the season, the team will need to remain vigilant to maintain their position at the top of the table in the upcoming matches.
