Angry Terzic criticizes Dortmund team – “That’s not enough”

Lots of ball possession, little return: Borussia Dortmund disappointed against 1. FC Heidenheim. BVB’s winning streak is over. Sports director Sebastian Kehl surprisingly speaks of a step forward. The coach sees it differently.
Although Borussia Dortmund missed its fourth win in a row, sports director Sebastian Kehl sees the 0-0 draw at Bundesliga newcomers 1. FC Heidenheim last Friday evening as “a small step forward”. Although BVB did not develop enough penetration power, they improved as the game progressed, said Kehl.
BVB coach Edin Terzić was harsher with his team. “That’s not enough for what we set out to do. We could have taken the next step with a win and we didn’t manage to do that. It was more of a step to the side,” said the 41-year-old.
BVB with numerous failures against Heidenheim
Due to the draw, BVB missed out on a temporary move to third place in the Bundesliga. Dortmund had to be content with a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
According to Kehl, the numerous absences – including winter signing Jadon Sancho (muscular problems) and the sick Marco Reus, Gregor Kobel and Julian Brandt – had an impact on the outcome of the game.

“If you have to replace nine people, then of course it’s a bloodletting,” he said. “In the end you can’t compensate for that, no team can do that. However, that is not the only reason why we are drawing here.”

The good news from BVB’s perspective: According to Terzić, the quartet should start training again soon and should therefore also be an option for the home game next Friday evening (8.30 p.m./DAZN) against SC Freiburg.
